A group of DeSoto businessmen and civic leaders decided that a locally owned and operated Bank was needed to serve the needs of the growing city. J. Pierce Monkres was asked to lead that effort. In 1986, Bank of DeSoto, N. A. opened for business with $1,750,000 in capital. The Bank paid its first dividend to its investors in 1989. By 1993, total assets had grown to over $50,000,000.

Today, total assets exceed $115,000,000. Bank capital has grown to over $10,000,000 while consistently paying dividends to its investors. The Bank is owned by many of the original DeSoto investors, the officers and by the employees stock ownership plan. Our greatest assets are our dedicated officers and employees. The top eight officials have a combined 246 years of banking experience, and an unbelievable, 208 years working with Pierce Monkres.
